MINI has revealed a sportier version of its new Cooper Electric and it is packed full of John Cooper Works branded extras – but it is stopping short of calling it a JCW. Instead it is just known as a ‘Sport trim’, suggesting there are faster models on the way which will wear the JCW badge.
The Sport uses the same 215bhp motor as the standard MINI Cooper Electric with a range of up to 250 miles, but the Sport trim has individual front and rear design with a ‘motorsport inspired look.’
Bonnet stripes lead to a new John Cooper Works logo on the front grille, and there are new 18-inch 10-spoke wheels covering JCW-branded red brake callipers.
As standard, the MINI Cooper Electric in Sport Trim includes diffusers at the front and rear. The radiator grille surround and logo are finished in high-gloss black. Visual highlights include the contrasting roof and the mirror caps in Chilli Red.
The JCW seats combine synthetic leather with red stitching and multi-coloured knitted material in the shoulder section.
The central, high-resolution OLED display, includes the John Cooper Works-inspired GO-KART Mode, which colours the display and interior lighting anthracite red. In addition to the special GO-KART sound, the optimised throttle response of the accelerator pedal in this mode is said to enhances the sporty driving experience.
The Sport can be ordered now with a starting price of £38,000.
