Not taken with a Taycan and don’t think the Tesla Model S is a 'Musk have'? Then Audi could have just the thing for you – the new e-tron GT, which is due to go on sale in spring 2021 with a price of around £90,000.The new addition to Audi’s all-electric e-tron range is described as a grand tourer and is 4.99m long, making it fractionally longer than a Taycan and Tesla. It shares many of its major components and engineering with the Porsche, and the figures are similarly impressive.
e-tron GT seems sensible, unlike people who concrete their gardens and turf their houses Depending on the model, its electric motors produce 470 or 590bhp and an 85kWh battery gives a range of up to 302 miles. Its 800-volt technology enables fast DC charging with an output of up to 270 kW where available – a major factor in taking on Tesla.
The range-topping RS model has an extra boost mode too which briefly raises the motor output to 637bhp, giving it a 0-62mph time of 3.3 seconds. This is still behind the latest version of the Model S, however.
As you'd expect from an Audi, the interior is beautiful and more conventional than a Tesla
