The all-new BMW X3 has been revealed with a bolder look, bigger dimensions and an all-electric range of up to 56 miles for the plug-in hybrid version.
The car is vital for BMW as it was the brand's best-selling model worldwide in 2023. The new X3 is 34 millimetres longer than its predecessor at 4,755 millimetres, while width has increased by 29 millimetres to 1,920 millimetres. Together with the 25‑millimetre drop in vehicle height to 1,660 millimetres to produces a sportier look.
The drive system in the X3 30e xDrive PHEV is made up of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine partnered with an electric motor, which are both mated to an eight-speed auto transmission. Together they produce an output of up to 299 hp and give a 6.2-second 0-62mph time. The car is equipped with BMW’s ‘IconicSounds Electric’ artificial noise generator to keep enthusiasts happy,
Thanks to a bigger 19.7kWh battery (up from 11.2kWh), the X3 30e xDrive also achieves an electric only range of between 50 and 56 miles in the official WLTP cycle, up from around 30 miles in the outgoing model. 11 kW AC charging is standard.
With a combined emissions figure of 26 to 21 g/km in WLTP cycle, it means the X3 will attract an 8% benefit-in-kind rate for company car drivers, down from 12% with the old car. This will mean a 40% taxpayer will save more than £100 per month in tax.
The X3 30e xDrive PHEV is priced from £56,340 and available to order now, with the first deliveries due in the fourth quarter of 2024.
