BYD will use the reborn Geneva Motor Show at the end of this month for the European premiere of a diverse variety of models, sub-brands and new technology.
This will include the BYD SEAL U DM-i, which the company claims is a ‘game changing’ PHEV. There will also be the BYD TANG, a 7-seat, all electric SUV, and two sub-brands, YANGWANG and DENZA.
The SEAL U DM-i uses a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated to an 18.3kWh battery. The all-electric, 7-seat TANG has a claimed range of up to 329 miles.
BYD will also be testing public reaction to its new brands. YANGWANG is described as “the supreme luxury sub-brand of BYD”. The YANGWANG U8 has the world's first mass-produced four-motor independent drive technology.
It controls the dynamics of all four wheels through four-motor independent vector control, providing the ability to do 360-degree ‘Tank Turns’.
DENZA is the joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, and has emerged as a premium brand in. China. The new DENZA D9 is a best seller in China and is now set to come to Europe in the next year.
