Citroën is slotting an improved battery and more efficient motor into its ë-C4 and ë-C4 X ranges, giving more power and a range of up to 260 miles.
The new models offer an increased all-electric range of around 40 miles compared to the existing versions, due to the new 54kWh battery and a new, more efficient and powerful 134bhp electric motor.
Standard features include a heat pump, which uses a humidity sensor to maximise energy efficiency and low rolling resistance and minimise energy loss through friction.
As the new powertrain is in high demand – it is also used in other models in the Stellantis range, including the new Jeep Avenger – Citroen will also continue to offer the old 50kWh battery for the near future.
Alongside the all-electric models, Citroën has controversially confirmed that it will now offer petrol and diesel versions of the C4 X, which was previously only offered as an electric model.
Pricing and specification information for all the models will be released ‘imminently’.
