Citroen adds 2CV (and Lego) look to revised Ami

Citroen has given the Ami microcar a new look inspired by the company’s iconic 2CV and Lego. The new version, which will go on sale in 2025, makes a nod to its illustrious predecessor, with fake louvres on its wings and ‘bug eye’ headlamps. The brand also says the blocky looks and dotty graphics are inspired by Lego.

There is no more power though – the Ami’s 28mph top speed is limited by legal requirements which allow it to be driven on a moped licence.

Besides the 2CV inspired features, the new front features a sloping section housing the brand's new logo. Compared to the previous generation, the lower part of the bumper is less rounded and has a squarer style. This, combined with the dot motifs on the wheels and body sides are said to be reminiscent of Lego pieces.

The company has also revealed a new Buggy concept at the Paris Motor Show, which it says is “dedicated to nautical leisure activities”. The Ami Buggy Vision has no doors and a sunroof, and designers worked on the theme of kite surfing. It incorporates a hook on the doors which can be fitted with a Kite Surfboard. It also has chunky wheels with quad-bike tyres so it can tackle sandy beaches.

The headlamps are tinted yellow in a nod to classic French cars, but to improve visibility at night the Ami Buggy Vision is fitted with an LED bar above the windscreen.

Like the last Buggy models, it’s likely that this version will make production in some form.
