Could you give a loving home to an Ora Cat? The Cat 01 is the first car to go on sale in Britain from the Chinese electric car brand Ora.
The strikingly-styled Cat has some impressive statistics, with a starting price expected to be below £25,000 and rising to £30,000 for the sporty-looking GT model. At 4,235mm long, the Cat 01 is roughly half way between a Vauxhall e-Corsa and a Nissan Leaf in size, but will undercut both cars by around £1,500.
Two battery sizes will be offered, either 48kWh or 63kWh, giving official ranges of 209 and 261 miles. Both versions will have a 170bhp motor powering the front wheels.
The styling has been compared to a Porsche and a MINI Rapid charging is possible at speeds of up to 80kW, making it faster to charge than a Nissan Leaf but lagging behind rivals from Peugeot and Vauxhall.
Equipment levels are expected to be high too, with a full suite of safety tech, two 10.25-inch screens and four cameras around the car.
The Cat's interior is packed with tech and equipment Ora is the pure electric brand of Great Wall Motor, one of China’s biggest car makers. Great Wall has previously tried to take a foothold in Europe with a pick up truck called the Steed, but it withdrew in 2016.
The Ora brand is expected to be imported into the UK by the company which has previously brought in brands such as Daihatsu, Subaru and Isuzu and has recently taken on the Mitsubishi business, although at the time of writing the contracts had yet to be finally signed. It will have around 30 dealers but will also have 'experience centres' at shopping centres.
The Ora Cat will be available to order from December and the first deliveries will be early in 2022. All Oras will be covered by a five year warranty for the car and eight years for the battery.
There's possibly a pun about puss in boots to be made here, but it's too early and we haven't had our coffee yet
