Dacia has done what many Electrifying readers were hoping it would and is bringing the Spring to the UK.

The Renault-owned Romanian brand has confirmed British buyers will get the chance to own the next generation Spring when it launches mid next year. 

It was rumoured that the current model (pictured), which is Europe's cheapest electric car with prices starting 18,550 euros (£15,500), would be coming to the UK, and we here at Electrifying began our own petition to guarantee its arrival.

However, British buyers' hopes were dashed last year when Renault Group confirmed that time was being called on the dinky Dacia and a replacement would arrive in 2024.

The new version, which will arrive on British shores in mid 2024, will feature 'significant improvements in design and equipment' over the current car, Dacia said.

That would suggest there won't be too many changes to the current model's 140-mile range from a 26.8kWh battery. Pricing will be announced at a later date, but we'd guess the Spring will be priced well below £20,000.
