Cupra is offering the Born with a 100 day return option for drivers who are not fully convinced that an electric car will work for them.
The new offer, named 'Love Me or Leave Me', is available now and if after three months the owner decides to hand back the vehicle, Cupra will return the deposit (subject to damage/excess mileage etc) whether the car was purchased outright or financed. The scheme is offered on qualifying vehicles ordered from current stock. It’s available across all model variants of the Born, including the high-performance VZ.
For PCP customers, the company will refund the cash deposit and/or part exchange equivalent price and settle your finance contract. It’s not free however, as it will retain three months finance payments for fair wear and tear and deduct any additional damages.
For cash customers, Cupra will refund the amount paid for the vehicle less 3% for fair wear and tear and more for any additional damage.
To further support drivers as they transition to EVs, Cupra has partnered with energy supplier OVO to offer up to 10,000 complimentary miles when adding its Charge Anytime tariff to an OVO energy plan. Charge Anytime allows smart charging at home for just 7p per kWh, any time, day or night. If you return the car, any used credit from the charging voucher will be deducted from your deposit, and the voucher will be cancelled.
Cupra has also teamed up with Ohme to offer a free home EV charger. If you want to keep the charger after returning the car, Cupra will deduct the full price of the charger (currently £999) from your deposit before it is returned to you. You can arrange for it to be uninstalled at your cost and returned to Cupra without paying.
Research from the company showed 94% of Cupra EV owners are happy that they switched to an EV - and zero said that they would go back to a petrol or diesel car.
Marcus Gossen, Director of SEAT and Cupra UK, said: “It is safe to say that the new scheme is ground-breaking and will give many drivers who have considered an electric car the impetus to make the leap. If the experience doesn't suit their lifestyle and a driver doesn't gel with EV ownership, they can hand the keys back after three months."
