KGM Motors, previously SsangYong, has opened order books for its new Torres EVX. It's the second pure-electric model in KGM's model range, joining the Korando e-Motion, and will sit above that car in the line-up.
The EVX is the electric version of the also newly launched Torres petrol SUV. To mark it out, the EVX gets a more futuristic design with an LED light bar at the front instead of traditional headlights and grille.
Under the muscular bodywork lies one of BYD's efficient 'blade' batteries, here in 73.4kWh form, allowing the EVX to cover a claimed 287 miles on a single charge. The maximum charging rate is 145kW, and the batter powers a front-mounted 204bhp electric motor – there's no four-wheel drive version available yet.
Two trim levels are available. Entry-level K30 kicks off things at £44,495 and gets 18-inch diamond cut alloys, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, TomTom navigation and a pair of 12.3-inch screens as standard.
The K40, from £47,495, adds a 3D 360-degree parking camera, leather seats, a powered tailgate and smart 20-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
