Fisker has confirmed that customers will be able to order its all-new Ocean SUV from July. The US brand has also revealed that 40,000 potential customers have paid to join the reservation list ahead of production starting in Austria in November.
The company claims that a significant number of reservation holders have expressed an interest in the range-topping Ocean One and Extreme models, both of which come with a £59,900 price tag. Fisker will open up pre-order reservations for Ocean One model on July 1, with Extreme pre-orders expected to start shortly after.
A more affordable Ocean Sport model, with a price of £34,900 is expected to be introduced late 2023, with UK deliveries likely to start in 2024.
Although Fisker’s reservation list for the Ocean is dwarfed by that of the Tesla Cybertruck that runs to 1.3 million customers worldwide, the fact that a start-up with no trading history has managed to secure such a high number of potential customers is an encouraging sign for the American brand.
And despite huge increases in global parts and energy prices (which has forced almost all brands to raise prices numerous times already this year) boss Henrik Fisker is confident that the brand will honour prices for customers on the reservation list. Fisker claims that the brand’s “asset-light business model” should allow the company to “hold pricing steady” through 2023.
As the Ocean moves towards production, Fisker has also confirmed that the SUV will come with a 10-year/100,000-mile (whichever comes first) battery and powertrain warranty. This makes Fisker’s battery warranty one of the best in the business. Only Lexus offers a more generous package with the UX300e coming with a 10-year, 600,000 mile package. Although Hyundai offers a 125,000 mile warranty on its battery packs, the Korean brand has an eight year cut-off.
In addition, the Ocean will get a six-year/60,000-mile warranty on the rest of the car, 6 years or 60,000 miles of roadside assistance, and 12 years of corrosion protection with unlimited miles.
