Fisker reveals three new electric cars

Fledgling electric car company Fisker has revealed three all-new electric cars and a more extreme version of its Ocean SUV.

The most interesting car for British buyers is the Fisker PEAR (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution). It will be built by Foxconn, the Taiwanese technology giant which is best known for assembling iPhones for Apple.

The PEAR will be built using Fisker’s Steel++ development process, which it claims results in the use of 35% fewer parts than other EVs in class. This will keep the cost down to around £28,000, Fisker has said, with the first cars arriving in late 2025.

Exact dimensions have not yet been revealed, but the PEAR is said to be ‘compact’ while allowing room for six seats. The interior has been hugely simplified to save costs and is dominated by a huge touchscreen.

There will be two battery sizes. The first will be aimed at city drivers and will have a comparatively tiny range of around 150 miles. A second model will give the 300ish mile range buyers currently expect.

The six-seat Fisker Pear is expected to cost around £28,000

Next up in the reveal was the Fisker Ronin, which the company claims is the world’s first all-electric four-door convertible GT sports car. It features a carbon fibre hard-top convertible, four butterfly doors, a high-tech luxury interior, and futuristic exterior design.

The rear doors are tiny though, looking like those used in the Mazda MX-30 or BMW i3.

Fisker claims an integrated battery pack will power the Ronin to a targeted 600-plus mile range, while a triple motor all-wheel drive powertrain will deliver a Tesla-rivalling 1,000-plus horsepower, giving a 0-60 mph in approximately 2.0 seconds. If the car reaches production, expect a £100,000 price tag.

The final all-new model is the Alaska – an all-electric four-door pickup truck to rival the Tesla Cybertruck, Ronin R1T and Ford F150 Lightning.

It will be built on an extended version of the Fisker Ocean’s platform called the FT31 and has an extendable cargo bed with hidden compartments. It is designed to be the world’s lightest EV pickup truck and has a projected range of 230-340 miles. It is also promised for 2025.

All of the cars are available to order now, with the company hoping to attract deposits from keen buyers. However, some experts have questioned whether the new cars will ever see the light of day, pointing out that Fisker has been plagued by financial woes and technical issues which would make it difficult to launch three new cars within the next two years while also ramping up production of the Ocean.

A top-down image of the Ronin was posted on Fisker's Instagram page.
