Jaguar I-Pace updated for 2023 with slightly sportier looks
The Jaguar I-Pace has been given a tiny update, as part of continued efforts to keep Brit brand’s as yet only fully-electric car competitive against a slew of newer rivals.
On sale now, from a price of £69,995, the I-Pace’s new look retains the distinctive shape and profile of the car launched five years ago, with short overhangs and a large glasshouse. Surface details and individual pieces of bodywork have been updated though, such as the new, smooth ‘grille’, finished in a shade called Atlas Grey. The two aerodynamic blades on the front apron are also finished in this colour, while the badging has been given a grayscale makeover.
Some items on the outside, such as the front bumper finishers, the sills on the doors and the rear-diffuser, are now body-coloured But there’s a new exterior Black Pack that’s standard on all but the entry-level R-Dynamic S model, which turns elements like the grille surround and window sills gloss black. A contrast colour panoramic roof is now available, as are satin paint finishes for the very first time. Jaguar has refreshed the wheel options, including a new 22-inch option finished in Satin Grey.
A sportier looking option exists at the top of the new look line-up. Badged 400 Sport, this model - priced from £79,995 - comes with a new bootlid spoiler, 22-inch gloss black wheels, Windsor leather upholstery with 14-way adjustable heated and cooled seats, and adaptive air suspension as standard.
Elsewhere though, it’s more or less as you were for the I-Pace. Under the floor is a 90kWh battery pack, and the four-wheel-drive electric drivetrain makes 395bhp. Maximum range stands at 292 miles, with performance of 0-62mph in just 4.5 seconds.
The charging tech remains capped at 100kW DC rapid charging capability, meaning a charge to 80% should take around 40 minutes at a charging post fast enough. At home, it’s capable of accepting three-phase 11kW charge should your wallbox meet this standard, or indeed the more common 7kW standard, with smart charging features enabling you to take advantage of off-peak hours and set charging limits. Inside, the I-Pace remains a familiar environment.
The brand’s Pivi Pro infotainment unit measures up at 10-inches diagonally, and includes key smartphone connectivity such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as standard navigation with What3words integration and Amazon Alexa voice control and assistance.
