Leapmotor reveals smaller B10 SUV

Chinese brand Leapmotor, a joint-venture with industry giant Stellantis, has revealed further plans for the European market with another mid-size SUV hitting UK roads next year.

The B10, a little brother to the C10 we have already driven, will launch in China later this year with a European expansion planned around the same time – the company’s bosses stressed the UK was on this list too.

Pitched as being 85% production-ready, the show car didn’t have an interior and representatives in Paris wouldn’t confirm battery sizes or range. Although it’s expected to share the C10’s 69.9kWh battery with a similar 261 miles of range and 215bhp.  This will put it up against the MINI Aceman and Fiat 600E, which both have 252 and 254 miles of range, respectively.

The C10 can take 84kW on a charge, so we’d expect the B10 to follow suit.

Rivalling the Kia EV3, the B10 is based on Leapmotor’s 3.5 Architecture and will feature a raft of safety tech. The car also promises to be more efficient and promise a more connected and sustainable interior. Prices have not been revealed but we should expect it to be around the £30,000 mark.

Revealed alongside the B10 in Paris is the C16, a three-row version of the C10 with up to six seats with a 2+2+2 seating configuration. The C16 at the show features a high-voltage 800V silicon carbide powertrain, which significantly improves overall vehicle efficiency and supports up to 180kW of charging power, enabling the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

With a length of 4915mm and a wheelbase of 2825mm, the C16 has a huge boot which can expand to 1,022 litres when the third row is folded. To keep the kids entertained, the C16 includes a 15.6-inch rear HD display, 21 speakers with Dolby Atmos support, and AI-powered customisable sound modes. It also features the Leapmotor OS 4.0 smart infotainment system and a panoramic sunroof.

When it comes to safety, the C16’s ring-cage body design, combined with CTC 2.0 battery integration technology, significantly enhances structural rigidity.

If you are not familiar with the brand, it is a joint venture between Leapmotor and Stellantis. Over the next few months, Stellantis will launch the C10 and T03 in the UK through dealers already established with other brands such as Citroen, Peugeot and Vauxhall.

Leapmotor has said it plans to have one new model, every year for the next three years.
