MAXUS unveils electric MPV and pick up for UK
Fast-growing electric van maker MAXUS is to launch its first car and a pick-up in the UK.
MAXUS, which is owned by the same company as MG, has captured an 11% market share in the electric van sector. It is now set to expand its line-up with two new electric vehicles: the MIFA 9 and the T90EV.
An acronym for ‘’maximum, intelligent, friendly and artistic’’, the MIFA 9 is a seven-seater pure electric MPV that’s powered by a 93kWh battery pack, and a 242bhp. It can travel up to 323 miles on a single charge, according to official figures.
The MIFA 9 will also feature a variety of futuristic aids, including electric seats in the middle-row that are controlled by a touchscreen built into the seats arms, and an ‘industry first’ system called the ‘intelligent driving housekeeper’, to recognise driving style through data.
Seven-seat MIFA 9 made it's debut in the UK at a commercial vehicle show MAXUS’ second launch, the five seat T90EV, is also the UK’s first-ever all-electric pick-up. With an emphasis on rugged workmanship, the T90EV combines an 88.55kWh battery pack with a 204bhp motor, to provide 198 miles of range. Sturdy detailing all-round, including a stainless steel sports bar and outside rope hook, give the all-terrain look MAXUS is trying to aim for.
However, the payload of 740kg is below the 1-tonne capability of most pick up rivals. The T90EV is also rear-wheel drive only. limiting off-road ability.
The MIFA 9 is priced at £32,152 in the UK, while MAXUS will reveal an asking price for the T90EV in July 2022. Both vehicles will be available to order from August 2022, and initial deliveries are expected to commence from the first quarter of 2023 onwards.
