It might be considered a toy by some, but the first all electric car to wear the Bentley badge is being take seriously by engineers. The £108,000 Blower Jnr is a collaboration between The Little Car Company and Bentley’s Heritage Collection, and instead of using a petrol engine it is powered by a 48V electric powertrain with a 20 bhp motor.

This means a top speed of 45 mph in the UK and 25mph in the USA due to legislation. This means the 3.7m long Blower meets the L7r quadricycle rules, along with vehicles such as a the Renualt Twizy, and can be registered for the road. The Bentley has an expected range of around 65 miles, with tandem seating for two adults.

To gain confidence in both the engineering and design of Bentley Blower Jnr, The Little Car Company will undertake a durability programme exceeding 5,000 miles across three different continents. The mission started with a seasonal twist – the collection of a Christmas tree from the snowscape of Switzerland.

The Bentley Blower Jnr includes an authentic specification chassis utilising leaf springs and scaled-down period-correct friction dampers. Brembo brakes at the front and drums at the rear, provide all of the stopping power necessary. The electric motor is mounted across the rear axle, while the batteries and drive electronics are all housed in a hidden undertray.

The Blower has needed modifications to ensure it is road legal
