Chinese brand XPENG has launched a Tesla Model 3 rivalling saloon in Europe, and it’s set to come to the UK within three years at a price of around £30,000.
The P5 EV is now available to order in Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. Its main selling point in its native China is a sophisticated self-driving system, but some of the sophisticated tech has been deleted for European models as it is not legal here.
The P5 could arrive in the UK within three years The P5 still has an impressive array of equipment though, with a range of 289 miles in the official WLTP tests, from a 66kWh battery. Inside, there’s a 12.3-inch LCD dashboard and a 15.6-inch centre display. The boot is usefully large too, with a 450 litre capacity and an additional 70 litre compartment under the floor for cables.
As well as the P5, XPENG is also importing a larger P7 saloon. The company’s first ‘experience store’ at the Westfield Shopping Mall in the Netherlands is also displaying a prototype of its flying vehicle, called the XPENG X2.
