Volvo is expanding its EX30 line-up with a rugged Cross Country variant, bringing off-road capability to its smallest electric SUV. Using the same dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup as the current range-topping EX30, it adds styling tweaks, increased ground clearance, and a selection of adventure-ready accessories.
Based on the existing Ultra trim, the EX30 Cross Country packs 422bhp from its twin electric motors, while a 64kWh battery delivers up to 265 miles of WLTP range. It retains the 3.6-second 0-62mph sprint ability of the standard model, but Volvo promises this version is built for more than just urban driving. Priced at €57,290 in Germany, it costs €2,000 (£1,665) more than the standard all-wheel-drive Ultra model, with first deliveries expected later this spring. Based on European pricing, the final UK sticker price is expected to be around £47,000 when order books open.

Visually, the Cross Country gets a 190mm ride height, unique five-spoke wheels, and a matte black exterior with tougher cladding around the wheel arches. Front and rear skid plates reinforce its rugged look, while off-road tyres, a roof basket, and mud flaps are available as optional extras. Volvo also offers a ‘Cross Country Experience’ package bundling key upgrades.
Customers can choose from four exterior colours, each paired with a contrasting black roof. Inside, the EX30 Cross Country retains the practical storage solutions of its siblings, along with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel as standard.
Charging tech remains unchanged, with support for 153kW DC fast charging and 22kW AC home charging. Built on Geely’s SEA platform, the EX30 shares its underpinnings with the Smart #1 and Zeekr X, rather than Volvo’s in-house architecture. Production takes place in China, with Belgian assembly in Ghent set to begin later this year.
