Kia has revealed full details of the all-new Sportage Plug-in Hybrid, including a low Benefit In Kind tax band for company car drivers, thanks to low CO2 emissions and long electric-only range.
The official combined fuel economy figure of 252mpg means an emissions figure of 25g/km. Combined with a range of 43 miles on the official WLTP ratings, it results in a tax rate of 8 per cent for the next three tax years to 2024/25, as compared to 12% for a car like the Ford Kuga PHEV.
The Kia features a 1.6-litre T-GDi engine and a 13.8kWh battery pack and electric motor. This powertrain combination delivers a total of 263bhp and a 0-60mph time of 7.9 seconds.
The on-board charger system is rated at 7.2kW, meaning the battery can complete a full charge in 1hr 45m on a home wall box or public point.
The Sportage Plug-in Hybrid is available across the ‘GT-Line’, ‘3’, ‘4’ and ‘GT-Line S’ grades with prices starting from £38,395 and rising to £43,795.
