Renault has had a vision for its Mégane hatchback – and it’s going electric. The company has revealed a concept car called the eVision which points the way to its all new family hatch and it is a 100% electric car with a 280 mile range.
The car will be launched in 2021 and will use the same mechanical parts as the Nissan Ariya. This includes a new ultra-compact 215bhp motor and ‘super slim’ 60 kWh battery. It will go head to head with the best-selling Nissan Leaf and Volkswagen's new ID.3
New Megane's batteries are flat. But not like that. This battery pack will allow the cells to be stashed under the floor while still maintaining a low roof line and decent interior space, according to Renault.
The Mégane eVision range will eventually expand to have bigger and smaller battery capacities and power outputs. It will eventually replace the entire Megane range, although the internal combustion engined versions will solider on for a few years yet.
