New Polestar 3 SUV set for October debut

Polestar has revealed the first undisguised picture and officially announced an October 2022 reveal date for its new 3, which will be the first of a duo of SUVs from the luxury manufacturer in the coming years. It will be the first vehicle made in the US by Polestar, and is designed to take on premium SUVs like the Audi e-tron, BMW iX and the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.

The Polestar 3 will be equipped with a dual-motor drivetrain and a large battery, that will aim to offer a range of over 372 miles (600km). No further technical details have been released.

Images released from Polestar unveil a sloping roofline design with similar traits the Polestar Precept concept car. It will also feature partially autonomous driving tech, thanks to the use of a LiDAR sensor system supplied by Luminar, which will also be used in other vehicles from the Polestar range.

The Polestar 3 will be the first stage in a three-year plan that will see the company release a new vehicle every year, continuing with the Polestar 4 – supposedly a compact SUV – in 2023, and a sports saloon in 2024, which will be the Polestar 5.
