Peugeot has revealed new pictures and details of its e-308, including the first shots of the estate version – called the e-308 SW. The all-electric 308 and 308 SW will be powered by a brand-new electric powertrain, with a 156 bhp motor and new 54kWh (51kWh usable) battery providing a range of up to 248 miles on the official WLTP cycle. 

An on-board three-phase 11 kW charger is standard, but the 100kW rapid charging is only average for the class. Peugeot has confirmed that the new battery will use a different chemistry to the packs currently fitted to the the e208 and e2008. This, according to the French brand, will boost efficiency and deliver a longer real world range for drivers. The e-308 also comes with a number of design tweaks to aid airflow around the car. A new 18-inch aluminium wheel has been specifically developed for the electric versions of the 308 and 308 SW, with aerodynamic efficiency designed to optimise performance.

Peugeot claims that the design and engineering package will make the e-308 the most efficient electric car in the segment and will be capable of returning up to 4.9 miles per kWh.

Inside, the new e-308 features the latest generation of the i-Cockpit with small steering wheel, digital head-up display and a central 10-inch touch screen. 

The new e-308 models will be available in the UK from the second half of 2023 with a price tag that its expected to be around £35,000 for entry level models. Estate fans will have more to cheer later next year with the arrival of a Vauxhall Astra Estate. This will be based on the same platform and battery as the e-308 and is expected to have similar pricing.
