The Polestar 2 is being updated with more range, faster charging, visual tweaks and a lower CO2 in production.
The battery upgrades only relate to the cheapest, standard range model however. Improved cell chemistry raises the capacity from 64 kWh to 69 kWh, increasing the range by 19 miles to 295 miles on the official tests. It has faster charging too (up to 130 kW DC from the previous 116kW) and an extra 7bhp from the motor.
Design detail updates are applicable to all Polestar 2 variants. The updates include:
• New exterior colours: Space (replaces Void) and Jupiter (replaces Moon)
• Magnesium is now the only 'free' colour
• New designs for the standard 19-inch and optional 20-inch wheels
• New Zinc colour for ventilated Nappa leather upholstery (replaces Barley), available with new Light Ash deco (replaces Reconstructed Wood)
• Removable sunshade for the panoramic glass roof
• The performance software upgrade with maximum output of 350 kW and 680 Nm is now included in the Performance Pack in Europe
• The heat pump (included in Plus Pack) has an improved optimal temperature range, now between -7°C and 25°C
The company also says it has reduced the carbon footprint of manufacturing the cars by using aluminium created using renewable energy. This is expected to see a total reduction of around 1,350kg of CO2 per car.
