The Audi A6 is officially dead and has been replaced by the all-electric A6 e-tron. Now available to order in Sportback (hatch) and Avant (estate) body styles, the first phase of A6 e-trons will be priced from £69,900 and £71,700 respectively. The high-performance S6 e-tron equivalents will cost from £97,500 (and £99,300.
The new arrivals share their underpinnings with the recently launched Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan, but are lower and more efficient. The first cars we will see in the UK will use a 94.9 kWh battery mated to a single 380hp rear-mounted motor driving the rear wheels. The S6 use a motor on each axle giving a total of 550hp and all-wheel-drive.
The Sportback and Avant are capable of official driving ranges of up to 463 miles and 437 miles respectively, depending on version. The S6 can cover up to 405 miles and the S6 Avant e-tron 388 miles.
Thanks to 800-volt technology and a maximum DC charging capacity of 270 kW, they are also impressively brisk when the time comes to top up the big battery. Using a DC fast-charger, the A6 can take on enough power for up to 192 miles in just 10 minutes, and from a 10% base can reinstate 80% of its capacity in 21 minutes.
Adaptive air suspension positions the body’s ride height at four different levels, including an efficiency mode which lowers the body by 20mm to improve aerodynamics, helping to optimise energy consumption and driving range.
Buyers can choose from three specifications - Sport, S line and Edition 1. Deliveries are set to begin in February 2025
