Renault has announced a ‘Comfort Range’ version of the Scenic E-Tech with a smaller battery and lower price. By using a 60kWh battery, the price of the electric SUV/MPV cross has shrunk by £3,500 to £37,495. This undercuts key competitors such as the Tesla Model Y.
The smaller 60kWh battery has an official range of 260 miles, and a 170hp motor - compared to the existing 87kWh, 220hp model which has a 385 mile range.
However, the Comfort Range maintains the maximum 130kW charging rate of the more expensive Techno, Espirit Alpine and Iconic versions. Using a DC rapid charger, the Comfort Range will recharge from 15-80% in 32 minutes, delivering a charge that equates to approximately 169 miles.
As standard, the Comfort Range will come with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED front and rear lights, roof bars, a 12-inch multimedia display, heated front seats & steering wheel, electric boot opening and various safety & driver assistance systems.
Renault is also sweetening the deal with a finance offer. The new Comfort Range model is available for £429 per month with a £4,300 deposit, on a 7.9% APR, four-year PCP deal with a £750 deposit contribution.
Renault UK Managing Director Guillaume Sicard said: “Renault is committed to democratising EV ownership and introducing the new 60kWh battery Comfort Range version was a logical decision, bringing our latest all-electric SUV within reach of a wider array of car buyers.”
“With a range of up to 260 miles, it offers a great blend of value and usability to all customers, whether private, business or purchasing via Motability.”
