Renault has finally opened order books for its new 5 E-Tech Electric, ending an agonising wait for buyers. Having launched its R-pass priority order system in December 2023, buyers have had to wait 13 months for the French brand to officially start the ordering process.
Customers who signed up for the £150 R-Pass will be the first to place official orders with dealers. Buyers with a pass also benefit from up to three years of free servicing. Ahead of what is expected to be a rush of orders, the R-Pass has been extended until 28 January. General sales will open on 29 January, but R-Pass holders buying on finance before 31 March can take advantage of launch offers.
Starting at £22,995, the reborn all-electric supermini can be financed through 48-month PCP deals with 5.5% APR, starting at £249 per month with a £555 deposit contribution. For those preferring interest-free options, a 0% APR PCP deal is available, starting at £182 per month with a 30% deposit for a 24-month term.
With five trims across three levels: Evolution, Techno, and Iconic Five, the new Renault 5 offers two battery options: a 40kWh unit (equipped with a 120bhp motor) or a 52kWh pack delivering 150bhp and a 253-mile range. Design features include a charging indicator on the bonnet, a digital assistant named Reno, Google services, and bi-directional vehicle to load V2L charging.
The interior blends technology and practicality, with seating for five, a 326-litre boot, and standard features like a heat pump and EV-optimised navigation. Both models can take a peak DC charge of up to 100kW, which means a 10-80% charge can be achieved in around 30 minutes.
