What’s your favourite M&S sandwich? And do you prefer Percy Pigs or the Phizzy Pigtails? You can now decide while you get a charge, thanks to a new tie up between M&S and BP Chargemaster to install rapid chargers at M&S stores across Britian.
The first of a five-store trial store is now open at Maidstone Eclipse Park, just off junction 7 of the M20 in Kent – perfect if you want to stock up on snacks before heading to Dover on holiday.
The three 50kW rapid chargers are powered by 100% renewable electricity and feature contactless payment terminals, so you don’t need a dedicated membership card.
The new Maidstone M&S offers both food and clothes, so you can get pears or pants while you charge Matteo de Renzi, CEO of BP Chargemaster, said: “As well as serving existing M&S customers who already or may soon drive electric vehicles, we expect the rapid chargers to bring new customers to these stores. They are in the right locations to support those driving along the strategic road network and provide a great opportunity to charge while you shop.
“We are incredibly proud to be working with M&S as they set out to trial EV charging at their stores. It’s exciting to partner with a leading retailer who, like bp Chargemaster, is focused on offering customers a trusted service with great value, supported by a seamless digital experience.”
The new chargers have a contactless payment option The new chargers at M&S stores are being installed this year with investment from BP Chargemaster, which has the largest public charging network in the country, including around 600 rapid chargers.
BP and M&S are long-standing partners after joining forces in 2005 to roll out M&S Simply Food stores at BP Connect sites – where BP Chargemaster is also building a network of ultra-fast 150kW EV chargers.
