Skoda is set to give its flagship Enyaq vRS model a welcome performance boost along with an improved range as faster charging. The improvements, which come as part of a surprisingly substantial model year update for both the SUV and Coupe models, make the Enyaq vRS the fastest accelerating Škoda production model ever.
Combined power output from the Enyaq’s dual motors has been raised from 292bhp to 335bhp, the highest ever for a production Skoda. As a result of the power hike, the vRS can accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds – a full second quicker than it previously could. The power increase has also improved the vRS’s mid-range acceleration, making it feel considerably quicker.
As part of the 2024 update, Skoda has also reworked the battery management system and recalibrated the motors to improve range. The new model has a WLTP figure of 340 miles on a full charge – a 16 mile increase for the Coupe and a 15 improvement for the SUV variant. The battery in both models remains the same at 77kWh.
Completing the vRS’s package of power updates is an increase in DC rapid charging speed. This rises from a peak of 135kW to 175kW – an improvement that will improve charging times for owners. Škoda claims that a 10-80% charge on a suitable rapid charger will now take around 28 minutes - an improvement of eight minutes.
Buyers of the 2024 models also benefit from increase in standard equipment with travel assist, speed assist, walk away locking, rear side airbags, rear window blinds, rear USB-C charging ports and tow bar prep all included in the basic specification.
Other updates include further refinements to the infotainment and display system. A number of screens have been redesigned to be easier to use and deliver more information. Navigation graphics have also been redesigned to deliver clearer and easier to follow mapping and directions, according to Skoda.
Ordering for the 2024 MY Enyaq vRS is due to open before the end October.
