Subaru has shown off a brand new electric SUV – the Uncharted. It'll be one of three new models to arrive in the UK from the Japanese brand next year, which, up until now, has only had the Solterra as its sole EV offering in its line-up.
The Uncharted is a compact electric SUV. It'll come in two flavours, single motor and dual motor, and two sizes of battery. Single-motor front-wheel drive models will come with either a 57.7kWh battery or a larger 77kWh back, giving ranges of 276 miles and 363 miles, respectively. Meanwhile, the dual-motor car gets the same 77kWh pack but will only travel 292 miles. It will race to 62mph in 4.8 seconds, however.
All versions of the Uncharted get a 22kW on-board charger, and true to its Subaru off-road heritage, body cladding for protection, and a high ground clearance of 210mm. The 77kWh battery version also gets a towing capacity of 1,500kg.
Inside, the Uncharted features a square-shaped steering wheel, dual wireless smartphone charging pads, and a 14-inch infotainment display. Further specification and pricing details will be revealed closer to the car's launch early next year.

The second new model to arrive next year will be the E-Outback. Revealed at the New York Auto Show in April, but badged Trailseeker, it's essentially a more estate car-like version of the existing Subaru Solterra. With its 210mm ground clearance and wagon silhouette, it will effectively take the place of the current petrol-powered Outback in Subaru's line-up.
The rugged electric estate gets a 74.7kWh battery, delivering up to 279 miles of range, plus all-wheel drive thanks to dual motors.

Subaru's third new model to appear in the UK next year is the new Solterra (pictured bottom). It's a heavy facelift of the current car, and, long with refreshed styling, it gets a new 73.1kWh battery, up marginally from the previous car's 71.4kWh pack, allowing it to travel up to 310 miles on a full charge. It can also now charge faster and its towing capacity has doubled to 1,500kgs, while its twin-motor set-up now packs 339bhp.
Subaru is really leveraging its partnership with Toyota to have a line-up of pure electric cars. Just as the Solterra is Subaru's version of the Toyota bZ4X albeit with distinctive styling, the Uncharted is a Subaru-ised Toyota C-HR+ and the E-Outback is the sister to the new Toyota bZ4X Touring.
Both the Uncharted and updated Soltera will launch in the UK early next year, while the E-Outback is slated for a Summer 2026 arrival.
