Swoopy coupe and new vRS performance range-topper join SKODA’s Enyaq line-up

SKODA is broadening its Enyaq range with the addition of two new models; a five-door coupe and a performance vRS variant. The new models will sit above the current Enyaq SUV that was launched last year and has been a sell-out success for the Czech brand.

Despite its slightly misleading nametag, the Coupe retains the five-door layout of its boxier stablemate, but adds a curvier roofline that improves aerodynamic efficiency.

The UK range will only feature one battery size option; a 77kWh pack shared with the SUV variant. But while the pack size is the same, customers can choose between three power output options. The entry-level, rear-wheel drive Enyaq 80 delivers 201bhp while the all-wheel 80x has an additional motor on the front axle to bring the total output to 261bhp. The range-topping vRS also comes with all-wheel-drive but delivers 295bhp and 460Nm of torque. The latter can sprint from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and comes with a host of design and dynamic features to deliver a sportier look and feel. It can also be ordered in striking new shade of green called Hyper Green, which makes it a winner in our books.

In terms of range, the rear-wheel drive 80 model has a WLTP figure of 339 miles - a small increase on what the boxier, less aero-efficient SUV model can muster. Rapid DC charging is rated at 135kW, which means a 10-80% charge on a 150kW charger will take just 29 minutes, according to ŠKODA. No official range figures have been announced for the vRS model.

And, like the SUV version, the Enyaq Coupe will be offered with an optional tow bar, along with the ability to tow trailers up to 1,400 kg.

The range topping vRS will be the brand’s first fully electric car to wear the famous badge. It will feature deeper front and rear bumpers, side skirts and up to 21-inch wheels. All models will come equipped with a full-length panoramic sunroof that features a special reflective coating to prevent the cabin from getting too hot in summer. SportLine and vRS models will also come equipped with what ŠKODA calls a ‘sports chassis’ as standard that drops the ride height by 15 mm at the front and 10 mm at the rear.

Inside, the Coupe will be largely the same as the SUV with buyers able to choose from a range of what ŠKODA calls ‘Design Selections’ with varying colour and material options. The vRS model will feature a bespoke interior that includes perforated leather-look material for the seat facings and dashboard along with sports seats with integrated headrests.

All versions will be fitted with the same 13-inch touchscreen display and 5.3-inch Digital Cockpit as the SUV version with a head-up display available as an option.

Thankfully, the swoopier roofline has done little to affect the Enyaq’s practicality – a feature that has made the SUV a hit with family buyers. The Coupe’s boot can hold a whopping 570 litres of luggage (just 15 litres less than the SUV version), which puts it ahead of almost all its sector rivals.

UK specifications and prices will be announced shortly, but we would expect the Coupe to be around £2,500 more than the SUV. That would mean a starting price of around £42,500 for the entry-level model. ŠKODA UK told Electrifying.com that vRS deliveries are expected to start in July with standard coupe models to follow in August.
