Tesla adds seven seat option to Model Y at last

Tesla has added something a bit extra to the Model Y – two extra seats! This is big news for family motorists – and it’s coming to the UK in a few weeks as an option on the Long Range AWD, costing an extra £2,500.

It offers a third row with two forward-facing seats, which fold flat if you need the boot space.

Access to the third row is easy using buttons located on the backrest of each second row outside seat. When pressed, the second row slides forward and folds, allowing you to step-in and step-out.

Once seated, third row passengers have headroom, but have to sit under the rear glass, which could become a little toasty in summer. They also have access to two USB-C outlets.

Even with the seven seats in place, there is 363 litres of space behind the third row, which is about the same size as a VW ID.3’s entire boot.

And when the third row is folded flat, a massive 753 litres are available. That’s bigger than many large SUVs.

The 7-Seater option has a range of between 351 and 373 of range depending on your wheel choice, with prices starting at £54,490. The first customer deliveries in UK of Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive 7-Seater will happen later this year, with production coming from Tesla’s Berlin-Brandenburg Gigafactory.
