Tesla has revealed the first pictures and specs of the Performance version of its Model 3. It has more power, better efficiency and more equipment compared to the previous Performance. The price starts at £59,990.
The new model incorporates the styling changes already seen on lesser Model 3 versions, which improve the aerodynamics. This means the official range is an impressive 328 miles.
The Model 3 Performance also receives a distinctive design compared to lesser trims. The new front and rear has a more aggressive styling, aerodynamics, and integrated cooling ducts, which work together with the rear diffuser and carbon-fibre spoiler to optimise lift balance and high-speed stability.
Inside, new Sport Seats feature enhanced side cushion and side bolster, which provide more lateral support during cornering and dynamic driving. These can also be heated and ventilated. The carbon-fibre trim with a unique, weave pattern, helps the Model 3 Performance stand out within the Model 3 line up.
The added power of the drive unit is transferred to the road through 20-inch wheels, with new performance tyres. The new staggered fitment is said to provide sharper turn-in response, improved predictability, and increased traction out of corners on both road and track surfaces.
New adaptive damping technology is controlled by Tesla’s Vehicle Dynamics Controller (VDC) which the company claims is a next-generation system allows for the ultimate handling performance without giving up everyday usability.
The ‘track-ready’ brakes – with red callipers – use high-performance pads, delivering more immediate deceleration and higher thermal limits and endurance.
The latest generation Track Mode allows customised handling balance, stability controls and regenerative braking. The Performance is available to order now.
