​IONETIC, the UK start-up specialising in electric vehicle battery pack technology, has today (3 April) appointed Dr. Andy Palmer as its Chairman. 

 Dr. Palmer joins IONETIC at a key stage in its growth, as the business focuses on plans to open its first giga-scale manufacturing facility in the UK. 

Often referred to as the ‘Godfather’ of electric vehicles, Dr Palmer is a leading industry figure who brings over 44 years of experience to the team. As COO and Chief Planning Officer of Nissan, he helped to supercharge mass-market electric car adoption in the UK by overseeing the development and introduction of the Nissan LEAF and Nissan e-NV200. After this, he led the launch of four core models and nine derivative vehicles as President & Group CEO of Aston Martin.

Dr Palmer will draw from his wealth of knowledge and experience to support the business with its aim to give niche vehicle-makers and manufacturers a cost-effective route to electrification.
