Toyota’s has revealed an all-new version of its controversially-styled C-HR crossover SUV and the range includes a plug-in hybrid for the first time.
The C-HR will be introduced with a choice of three hybrid powertrains. The ‘plug-less’ options are 1.8 and 2.0-litre hybrid electric (HEV) versions, along with a new 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) model.
The 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid is front-wheel-drive only and has a hefty 223bhp from the combined petrol and electric motors. It can complete 41 miles on battery power, meaning it will be eligible for the lower 8% benefit-in-kind ratings for company car drivers.
The PHEV will also have a feature called ‘Regeneration Boost’ which Toyota says is a “one pedal”-like driving experience with three levels of regenerative braking for easier progress in traffic.
Details of the UK range, specifications and pricing will be confirmed at a later date but it’s expected the range will rise to start at around £35,000 and it will arrive in the UK in the autumn.
