Stung by criticism of its steep prices, Vauxhall has introduced new entry-level versions of the Astra Electric and Mokka Electric.
The new Design versions of Astra Electric and Mokka Electric are around £2,200 cheaper than the previous GS models, but sacrifice some of the desirable features found on the posher models.
The Mokka Electric Design is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels (down in inch from the GS) and features a seven-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
The Astra Electric Design is fitted with 18-inch bi-colour alloy wheels and a 10-inch touchscreen with voice-activated satellite navigation and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster.
Prices for Mokka Electric now start from £36,610, but it is only available with the smaller battery and old 134bhp motor. This give a claimed range of 209 miles (WLTP). Prices for Astra Electric now start from £37,795. It is powered by a 54kWh lithium-ion battery and 154bhp electric motor with up to 258 miles of range between charges.
The first deliveries are due in January 2024.
