With more than 770,000 electric cars on UK roads this Christmas, it’s likely many people will be welcoming electric car drivers into their homes over the festive period for the first time.
And while many will naturally give them generous gifts, food, and refreshments, you might not think of offering them a plug to top up their car’s battery.
So we are suggesting that hosts help their EV loving friends and family out by electrifying their Christmas with the offer of a free charge. Letting an electric car driver plug in for eight hours will give them an extra 64 miles of range and will cost around £4.32 - less than a box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates.
Electrifying.com’s Founder and CEO Ginny Buckley said: “Most electric car drivers will be used to plugging in at home or work and never having to use any other form of charging. But the Christmas period could mean many are planning their first longer trip. While most journeys will still be within the range of more modern and larger electric cars, those with smaller batteries may need to top up on route.
“It may seem odd asking a friend or relative if we can plug in for a quick top up while we are visiting, even though the energy will cost less than a box of chocolates. That’s why I’m encouraging hosts this year to make the first move and offer a socket rather than socks as a gift this year.”
