Chinese EV brand XPENG has officially entered the UK market, with the confirmation of prices and final specifications for its new G6 SUV. The launch marks a significant step in XPENG’s European expansion as it looks to establish itself in one of the world’s most competitive EV markets.
The first model to arrive in the UK is the XPENG G6, a mid-size electric coupe-SUV priced from £39,990. Available to order now, the right-hand-drive G6 will start deliveries in March 2025 and, on paper, appears to be a direct rival to the Tesla Model Y – the world’s best-selling electric car.

Built on XPENG’s 800V architecture, the G6 promises rapid charging at speeds of up to 280kW and the potential for sub-30 minute charging sessions. From launch, buyers will be able to choose from two battery options: a 66kWh LFP pack that offers a 270 mile WLTP range or an 87.5kWh NCM pack that comes with 354 miles of range.
The Standard Range model is priced from £39,990 while the Long Range model starts from £44,990. This puts in it direct competition with the Volkswagen Group’s mid-size SUVs, the VW ID.4, Škoda Enyaq, Audi Q4 and Cupra Tavascan, along with Korean competitors in the form of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6.
In addition to confirming prices for its UK launch model, XPENG has also confirmed plans to introduce a wider range of cars. These include a G9 large SUV and an X9 seven-seater MPV. The brand has also announced that it plans to bring its P7+ saloon to Europe. The latter is based on the P7 saloon but showcases XPENG’s ‘AI driven’ self driving systems, but will likely require changes in European regulations before drivers can take advantage of any self-driving functionality.

XPENG will be imported to the UK by established distributor International Motors (IML), which already sells GWM Ora, Subaru and Isuzu in the UK. IML plans to open 20 XPENG dealerships in the UK by the end of 2025.
Although the XPENG name will be new to many British buyers, the brand has been selling cars in Europe since 2020 and has enjoyed modest success in Norway, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, France and Spain. In total, XPENG sold 10,000 cars across all its European markets in 2024.
XPENG is also planning to work with the Volkswagen Group on future products. The German giant took a 4.99% stake in XPENG in 2023 and is understood to be developing software for future models. As part of the deal, the two brands will co-develop two new Volkswagen-badged EVs for the Chinese market, based on XPENG’s G9 platform, with production set to begin in 2026.
