Kia has always been able to surprise with its use of technology and connectivity in electric vehicles. In 2024 it will take this to the next level by integrating artificial intelligence (AI), launching the new Kia App and making charging hassle-free with its new Plug&Charge service.

These have all been previewed in the Concept EV3, which will go on sale as a production car in 2024. The striking new model will set the benchmark for design, environmentally-friendly materials and a great driving experience. It will also continue Kia’s trend of providing technology that makes life easier.

“We will continue to fulfil the needs of our customers through new digital platforms and technologies so that we can keep finding better ways to move forward,” says Charles Ryu, the Head of Kia’s Brand and Customer Experience Division. “Because at the core of Kia’s DNA lies our promise to offer more advanced sustainable mobility solutions that improve people’s lives.”

Technology that assists

Kia is working with a number of top AI providers to enhance the personal assistant experience in its models. Starting with the Concept EV3, it will introduce a new in-car AI assistant with voice activation. It will help with optimising your driving route, selecting the best charge points, and accessing any emergency services or dealership advice you might need. The AI assistant will also be able to tell you about restaurants, cafes, shops and leisure spots. Naturally for UK customers, you can expect your assistant to be able to tell you about the weather too.

The integration of AI in the Concept EV3 is all about enhancing the ownership experience, ensuring your journeys are more relaxed with a minimum of fuss. It perfectly complements the feeling of wellbeing inside the concept by making the driving experience easier and therefore more relaxed.

The assistant isn’t the only piece of AI technology in the new model. The Concept EV3 will see the debut of the new Kia App in 2024 that will feature an AI chatbot. This fountain of knowledge will be able to quickly answer your questions with the aim of providing an easy, hassle-free experience.

The app will also be able to provide real-time information on your car. You can schedule a charge, check the charging status and adjust various settings. Like the AI assistant, the app will be able to suggest places to visit in your location, very useful if you are looking for something to do, or the best place to grab a bite while your Kia Concept EV3 is charging.

Tech that chooses the right Kia EV for you

The advantages of the new technology will even benefit potential Kia EV buyers who can use the app to choose the right Kia model for them. It provides access to everything from researching the best model for your lifestyle to arranging test drives and finalising a contract so you can get behind the wheel of your new Kia as quickly as possible.

“Kia aims to provide sustainable mobility solutions and fulfill the needs of our customers by eliminating perceived difficulties,” says Ryu. “We want to make the entire customer journey, from digital to offline to in-vehicle interactions, as effortless and enjoyable as possible. This includes the stages of pre-purchase, purchase, and post-purchase.”

Taking the hassle out of your journey

Another great feature of the app is the new E-routing function. It analyses all the charge points on your route, checks the current status of your battery and decides the best route and chargers to use. If you decide you want to go exploring somewhere, the E-routing feature will automatically update the charging options, constantly working behind the scenes to make sure you have the best driving experience possible.

It’s not just about driving either, because Kia will also introduce a new piece of charging tech in 2024 that will have many other EV owners feeling envious. Kia’s new Plug&Charge service puts an end to the need to open an app or even tap a contactless payment card. It brings seamless charging to all electrified Kia models and means you only have to plug in at one of the Plug&Charge partners, including IONITY and BP. The car and the charge point will take care of everything and when the car is fully charged you just unplug and drive away.

“Plug&Charge is a very convenient technology that offers decreased manual handling, resulting in a faster, smoother process for our customers,” says Sjoerd Knipping, Vice President of Marketing and Product at Kia Europe. “By offering our customers electric vehicles as well as the most advanced charging solutions, we’re smoothing the way for the switch to sustainable mobility, as well as proving ourselves to be serious contenders in the highly competitive EV market in Europe.”

The new Plug&Charge service is also integrated with the Kia App so you can still keep an eye on the charging status and manage the charging process if you wish to.

The Kia Concept EV3 is packed with the latest technology, all designed to make life easier with hassle-free charging and efficient and relaxed driving. It’s all designed to make life with a Kia EV more enjoyable than ever.
