What do Love Islander Eyal Booker, former Pop Idol judge Nicki Chapman and top DJ Toby Anstis have in common? They’re all ‘Electric Virgins’ - until now.
A new podcast series from the electric experts at Electrifying.com will put a host of stars into electric cars for the first time and let them make the mistakes, so you don’t have to.
The unique celebrity podcast, cheekily called the Electric Virgins, is fronted by TV presenter and founder of Electrifiying.com Ginny Buckley, along with Tom Ford, the former host of BBC Top Gear America and Fifth Gear.
Their humorous, no holds barred conversation covers the trials, tribulations and triumphs of making the switch to an electric car and is packed with useful information to help all the ‘electric virgins’ out there make the switch.
We’ll hear former Love Islander Eyal Booker turn up the heat when he falls for his ‘sexy’ Polestar, daytime telly favourite Nicki Chapman put the kettle on in her Kia and celebrity chef Simon Rimmer swap his chopping board for a charger ro deliver his verdict on .
The podcast puts celebrities in the driving seat to tackle the obstacles and challenges that we know all consumers face; in a recent Electrifying.com survey 53% of drivers told us they were considering switching to an electric car in the next 12 months, yet half of those surveyed also admitted that they feel less confident driving an electric car than they do a petrol or diesel motor.
The podcast’s first electric virgin is model and Love Islander Eyal Booker, who revealed he was a huge fan of his Polestar 2’s ‘sexy’ style. In his ‘week of learning’ Booker, who grew up in a family of car fanatics, showed us he has a hidden talent for imitating cars and faced up to a Tesla driver who picked a fight with him at a charger.
Heart FM DJ Toby Anstis, who admitted he has ‘sat in, driven or owned most cars that there are’ was next up to try out the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Anstis, who has been open about his struggles with asthma admitted his electric experience left him feeling like he ‘was doing something good’ for air quality. However, he was left confused by the team’s regular ‘Word of the Day’ quiz which helps to demystify the world of electric car jargon.
Meanwhile, BBC star and former Pop Idol judge Nicki Chapman gets to grips with the technology on her Kia EV6 in episode 3 when she discovers how it can help her make a back seat cuppa thanks to its state of the art charging technology.
Airing on 14 July, with episodes released every two weeks, the podcast is available to download on all major streaming outlets, including Spotify and Apple Music. To find out more and to listen to the podcast, please visit our website here.
