Abarth has revealed some more details about its forthcoming hot 600e crossover, as well as dropping an image of the car wildly driving around a test track.
Last month the Italian tuning brand published photos of its upcoming spicy SUV testing, but the images revealed precious little bar a few hints as to how the car would look.
The latest image, which we highly suspect is the work of Photoshop, is of the launch edition named Scorpionissima which will be limited to 1,949 units – the same year as Abarth was founded. It features a new paint colour – 'Hypnotic Purple' – and the Abarth's sportier bodywork is more evident.
While its tamer Fiat 600e sister has a more retro, cutesy style, the Abarth 600e favours a meaner look with a lowered ride height, wider footprint, a deep air damn at the front, 20-inch alloy wheels and an 'aerodynamic' rear spoiler. New acid yellow Scorpion badges – as seen on the Abarth 500e – are stuck to the front wings, while Abarth lettering appears on the front panel and along the bottom of the doors. Apparently, each car will also get an authenticity certificate.
The 600e will be the most powerful car Abarth has ever built, with 237bhp on tap. The firm also says the car will feature a mechanical limited-slip differential and tyres that were ‘jointly developed with the supplier for Formula E’ for maximum grip. Abarth says the car is 'designed to leave Abarth fans speechless'...
The new image and details come as Abarth is busy shooting the car's commercial advert in Milan, Turin. It can be assumed, then, that a full reveal is not far away, before the car likely goes on sale later this year with a price of over £40,000.
