Stellantis has ceased production of the Leapmotor T03 at its Polish plant as of 31 March, with a group spokesperson telling Electrifying.com: “Stellantis confirms it is no longer assembling Leapmotor's T03 model at the Tychy plant, in Poland since March 30th. While the Company remains fully engaged in the launch of Leapmotor vehicles in Europe, at the moment it is evaluating different production options.”
The move comes as Stellantis pushes ahead with its plans to introduce Leapmotor vehicles across Europe. Initially, the first batch of T03 units was produced in China before Stellantis began assembling the car in Poland last June. The decision to halt production now casts doubt on the long-term European strategy for the model. Plans to manufacture the larger Leapmotor B10 in Poland were also scrapped earlier this year, with Stellantis opting to build it in Spain instead. Reports suggest that China’s government has advised domestic manufacturers to avoid major investments in countries backing potential EU tariffs on Chinese EV imports—Poland among them, while Spain has not taken a clear stance.
Stellantis confirmed that the news "will not impact on the rollout of the model or the brand in Europe". Leapmotor T03 was launched earlier in the year in UK with prices from £15,995. To date, just 193 T03s have been registered in the UK, according to official figures from the SMMT. A natural rival to the Dacia Spring in the sub-£20k electric car market, the T03 offers a 37.3kWh battery, a WLTP range of 165 miles, and a 94bhp electric motor. DC fast charging from 30 to 80 per cent takes around 36 minutes.
Stellantis acquired a 20 per cent stake in Leapmotor last year, forming a 51/49 joint venture to expand the brand’s European footprint. As of March 2025, Leapmotor has established 44 dealerships across the UK, with plans to increase this number to more than 80 by the end of 2025.
These dealerships are integrated within existing Stellantis brand locations, such as Peugeot, Citroën, and Vauxhall.
