Fisker is set to give its new Ocean SUV its European debut later this month ahead of series production starting in November. The brand has also confirmed that the entry level model will go on sale in the UK for £34,990 when deliveries of right-hand drive versions start in 2023.
The California-based brand will show the production-ready model at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona which starts on 28 February. It marks the first official appearance of the much-anticipated SUV on European soil.
In terms of specification and price, Fisker has revealed that the entry-level Fisker Ocean Sport will come with a £34,990 price tag and a target range of 250 miles. The higher spec Ocean Extreme will feature a 350 mile range and dual-motor all-wheel drive. Fisker has yet to reveal the price of this model, but in the American market the Extreme is $30,500 more than the Sport. That would indicate that this model would be in the region of £60,000 when it arrives in the UK. Fisker has confirmed that the Extreme will feature three driving modes and what it describes as a host of first-to-market safety features.
No information regarding battery sizes or charging has been released, but boss Henrik Fisker has previously confirmed that the Ocean will have a 400 volt electrical system rather than 800 volt system as fitted to the Kia EV6, Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Porsche Taycan. According to boss Henrik Fisker, all Ocean battery options will be able to DC fast charge at speeds of up to 250kW. This would put it on a par with Tesla, which offers a similar speed from a 400 volt system. Should this be the case, the Ocean will be able to add around 100 miles range in under eight minutes and an 80% charge in under 30 minutes.
