Funky Cat limited edition gains bigger battery and longer range

Funky Cat manufacturer Great Wall Motors Ora is expanding its presence in the UK as part of a significant drive to get more potential buyers to take test drives. To coincide with the promotion, Ora is set to release a new limited edition version of the Funky Cat, badged First Edition+.

Each test drive centre will offer test drive, sales and service support for current and future GWM ORA models. According to Ora, an electric car expert will available to answer product related queries and provide customers with guidance on the benefits of making the switch to an electric vehicle. The new centres will be managed by a mix of existing dealer groups, including Peter Vardy, Chorley and South West. The introduction of the new sties brings the total number of Ora outlets to 26 in the UK.  

A new limited edition version of the Funky Cat will be introduced at the same time, with just 50 units earmarked for UK buyers. Ora describes the new variant as an ‘evolution of the brands launch model’ and previews what customers can expect when the brand delivers a broader range in 2024. 

The First Edition+ will be priced from £33,795 and comes with a 63kWh battery with offers a WLTP range of 263 miles. The original launch model, badged First Edition, comes with a 45kWh battery and a price tag of £31,995. 

The new model also comes with heated, cooled and massage front seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof and automatic parking assistance. First Edition+ models also feature special edition badging, mats, keys and a Type 2 charging cable. Ordering opens on 12 October.
