Chinese brand NIO has revealed its electric executive flagship, a massive SUV coupe called the ET9. Said to be“designed specifically for the new generation of high-end business users”, the ET9 is 5,325mm long – more than a long wheelbase Range Rover.
Despite its length, the ET9 adopts a four-seat layout with a "Sky Island" and "Executive Bridge". Inside the "Executive Bridge", the big NIO offers a 360-degree tray table for the passengers in the rear seats, which can be adjusted at any angle. The ‘first-class’ style rear seats of NIO ET9 are unusually wide and can recline by up to 45 degrees.
The car is said to offer exceptional comfort thanks to the SkyRide Intelligent Chassis System which uses fully electronic steer-by-wire, rear-wheel steering, and full active suspension, making it the world's only driven-by-wire intelligent chassis.
The NIO ET9 is also equipped with a 900V Architecture which gives a peak charge rate of 600kW, extending the range by 150 miles in less than five minutes. In addition, the battery can be swapped in three minutes at one of NIO’s battery swap stations.
The NIO ET9 is available for pre-order in China, with delivery time scheduled in the first quarter of 2025. It is expected to come to Europe in 2026 with a price tag of around £100,000.
