Vauxhall has confirmed that the new Mokka Electric Long Range will start from £37,610 and will sit alongside the existing standard range model in the brand’s revised line-up. The new model, which features a new 54kWh battery and revised motor, will command a £1,000 premium over the standard 50kWh model.

In addition to having a larger battery, the new model also features a new, more efficient 156hp electric motor that produces 260Nm of torque. Vauxhall also claims that the new hardware is quieter and more refined in use.

The new battery comprises 102 cells in 17 modules and features a liquid cooling system and takes up no more space than the original 50kWh pack. All Long Range variants come with a heat pump as standard to boost cold weather performance. The brand claims a WLTP figure of up to 252 miles for the new model, compared to 209 miles for the standard car. In reality, drivers are likely to see a real world range of around 210-220 miles, which represents a significant improvement over the original model.

As with the standard model, drivers can choose between three driving modes; Eco, Normal, and Sport, and range can be preserved by activating ‘B’ mode via a button on the gear selector to increase the level of regenerative braking. The new Mokka Electric Long Range accelerates from 0-62mph in 9 seconds (0.2 seconds faster than the 50kWh model) and achieves a top-speed of 93mph.

Rapid DC charging peaks at 100kW with Vauxhall claiming a 20-80% charge time of just under half an hour when hooked up to a 100kW+ charger. As with the standard model, the long range car comes with 11kW AC charging as standard, which means an empty to full charge on a 7kW home wallbox will take around eight hours.

Buyers will be able to choose from three trim level options: Design, GS and Ultimate. Entry-level Design models start from £37,610 and come with 17-inch alloys, Vauxhall’s Multimedia Pure Panel system and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster.

Mid-Spec GS cars start from £39,985 and add 18-inch bi-colour alloys, black roof and headliner and red detailing. The infotainment system comes with a 10-inch colour touchscreen and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. GS models also come with a heated steering wheel, heated front seats and dual-zone electronic climate control.

Ultimate models add adaptive cruise control, matrix LED headlights and Alcantara seat trim. Keyless entry and start and a massage function for the driver’s seat are also included as part of the standard spec. Prices for the long range variant start from £42,295.

From launch, Vauxhall is set to offer the Mokka with a PCP finance deal that includes a £7,000 brand deposit contribution. With a customer deposit of £2,722, the monthly costs are £399. First deliveries are expected in March.
