bp pulse is one of the largest and most comprehensive public charging networks in the UK, with a variety of charge points situated across much of the country. Providing fast, rapid, and ultra-rapid points, often in good numbers at each site, BP Pulse is now focusing on fitting its fuel stations with high power chargers.

Access is possible through a variety of methods. Subscribers and members can use an RFID card, there’s a BP Pulse app, and DC charge points can be used with contactless payment cards, or Apple Pay/Google Pay.

Those using the points regularly can sign up to a monthly subscription, which reduces charging prices and includes a selection of free fast chargers about the country. Alternatively, pay-as-you-go access is available for occasional users, with no connection fees. Using contactless is the most expensive option, but is faster and doesn't necessitate pre-loading credit into an account.

BP's was also one of the first public charging networks in the UK. Originally called Chargemaster, it was bought by oil giant BP in 2018. The network has been rebranded and refocused to BP Pulse since then, and the network was the first to build a public rapid charging hub in the country.

There has been widespread criticism of its reliability however, with many older points suffering from under investment. The 150kW chargers aren't the fastest, either, but will be powerful enough for most electric cars on sale.
