Before you get any further into the review, we’d better clear something up – as of May 2023, bp pulse will only be selling home chargers to fleet customers and won’t sell them directly to consumers.
You will still be able to buy them from some suppliers if you are determined though, and may be offered one if you are taking delivery of an electric company car or getting one on a lease.
It has some clever tech which makes it particularly suitable for business users too. The mobile app links to a central system monitor which monitors the charging and remotely sets scheduling for off-peak periods. Drivers can submit their personal/business mileage split which is fed straight back to fleet managers so businesses can claim back personal mileage or expenses through the next payroll.
The charger is also said to be ready for V2G and V2H, which gives it a degree of ‘futureproofing’, as it doesn't yet work with any car we know of.
In terms of looks, the slimline BP is thin enough to fit in tighter gaps, and there is no screen – just an LED charge status indicator. We liked the neat light which helps you plug in at night too.
On the downside, we’ve heard from several users that the app is ‘buggy’, with constant updates which wipe presets. The customer service is reported to be sub-optimal too, with long waiting times for installations.

You can no longer buy an bp pulse charger direct from the company, but you might be offered one if you get a lease or company car. It has some clever tech to help you claim back expenses on business miles and works well enough, but the app can be glitchy.
