You might be hearing a lot more about Lynk & Co in the coming few years as the brand is set to hit the UK market soon with an innovative subscription ownership model. The 01 is closely related to the Volvo XC40 so it’s a comfortable and straightforward small SUV to drive.

“I'm a bit confused by the 01. It's a reasonably attractive car, but it doesn't seem to stand out in any area. Its uniqueness is supposed to be the ownership package, but you can buy plenty of cars using a subscription these days. Maybe it will just compete on price in the end.”

Nicki Says

“I like the way the Lynk & Co looks and it has a decent electric only range. Anything that makes owning a car simpler is something to applaud, as long as it doesn't cost too much more as a result. But PHEVs mainly appeal to company car drivers in the UK, and they won't reap the benefits of a subscription package designed for private motorists.”

What is Lynk & Co?

Lynk & Co is a brand owned by the Chinese car giant Geely. It's a sister brand to many car makes under Geely's umbrella, and was created to appeal to younger car owners who want a simpler ownership experience.

What size is the Lynk & Co 01?

The 01 is a small SUV and rivals the Volkswagen Tiguan and Ford Kuga, along with its sister car, the Volvo XC40. In fact, the 01 shares many components with the Volvo including its platform and engines.

Is the Lynk & Co an electric SUV?

While a pure-electric 01 may arrive later, it currently only comes in hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms. The PHEV, as tested here, has a pure-electric range of 43 miles.

Is the Lynk & Co 01 on sale in the UK?

Not just yet. UK sales are expected to begin in 2022 but the car is already on sale in the rest of Europe and in China. You can expect prices to start at around £30,000 and a car subscription method of ownership offered.

How will I buy an 01?

It's unlikely there will be any physical dealerships selling the 01 when it comes to the UK. Instead, it's probable you'll buy a 01 online (much like a Tesla) either outright, on finance or via a car subscription.
