The Scenic looks cool, is spacious and well equipped, and will go further in between charges than almost any other car at this price

Ginny Says

“It’s great to see electric cars with this sort of range becoming available for closer to £40,000. Only a year or so ago, your only option for this sort of range was the Tesla Model 3 or a super-pricey Mercedes. Well done, Renault.”

Nicki Says

“Being called a Scenic, I sort of expected this to be an MPV. But it’s just like most other normal SUV-crossovers for seat flexibility, and that boot shape will be really unhelpful in normal family life.”

The Scenic is great value for such a well equipped, long range family car

Pricing

The Scenic is well priced, especially given the generous equipment levels, and starts at £37,495 for the Comfort Range and £40,995 for the Long Range. The monthly finance deals on offer are tempting, too, and it’s possible to get the Scenic for £300 per month if you’ve got a healthy deposit or decent part-exchange.

Running costs

A full charge in the Renault Scenic will cost around £20- to £25 on a typical domestic electricity tariff, depending on which battery you opt for, or you could cut that to under £9 if you use an off-peak, overnight tariff. Even without an off-peak discount, the Scenic should cost around half of what it costs to fuel an efficient petrol car provided you’re not charging at public chargers (which are much more expensive) too frequently. Check out our guide to charging at home, and charging on-the-go for everything you need to know about charging an electric car.

Insurance

The Renault Scenic falls into group 32, which is competitive with rivals like the VW ID.3 and Skoda Enyaq, and should make it a touch cheaper than alternatives from Kia and Hyundai.

Servicing costs

As with most modern cars, the Scenic will bing a message onto the dash to tell you when a service is due – and that can vary depending on how the car is being driven. However, the official service intervals suggest that you’ll need to visit the service centre every 12 months or 18,000 miles, whichever is soonest.
