Toyota’s first-ever ground up pure electric car is competent and the 4x4 versions have genuine off-road ability. The real-world range is not great in winter though.

Ginny Says

“Toyota’s first proper pure electric car brings expertise gained from years of partial electrification. Look out for the decent finance deals and it could make sense.”

Tom Says

“I ran a bZ4X for three months and grew to respect it rather than love it. Owners tell me the recent software updates make a real difference to the real-world range too. ”

The bZ4X might look expensive on paper, but Toyota’s ‘one stop shop’ lease plans will appeal to many people.

Toyota is offering a new ‘one stop shop’ for bZ4X purchase - a scheme that includes fitting a wallbox, charging, servicing - pretty much anything - you can even include insurance if you wish. Prices range from just under £43k for the basic two wheel drive model, right up to £51,480 for the Vision AWD, and the Toyota Relax warranty - a ‘service activated’ warranty that kicks in every time you have the car dealer-serviced - should see any car come with peace-of-mind as standard. That’s one reason to look at the bZ4X over it’s comparatively-priced rivals - the package is comprehensive, even if the outright cost seems a touch expensive.

Toyota bZ4X running costs

The bZ4x is pretty efficient on paper, getting between an A in our efficiency ratings. But despite the standard heatpump and water-cooled battery as standard, we've found the real-world range in cooler weather to be much less than the official figures.

Look out for keen leasing rates and PCP deals which pop up occasionally to make the bZ4X look more competitive. Along with the warranty and ‘Toyota Relax’ servicing-activated extended warranties, they offer extra of peace of mind.
